1.1. Headline Features

1.1.1. Experimental Enterprise Linux 9 support

This is the first release to provide Enterprise Linux 9 packages. Enterprise Linux 9 comes with Ruby 3 and it may affect your templates. Right now there’s no guidance on upgrading. Because of this it’s considered experimental. Foreman 3.11 plans to provide this. Users are encouraged to test and provide feedback.

1.1.2. foreman-debug is now an optional package

The foreman-debug package is no longer installed by default, and it is now required to be installed separately.

1.2. Upgrade Warnings

There are no upgrade warnings with Foreman 3.10.

1.2.1. keycloak-httpd-client-install dropped from Enterprise Linux 9

Foreman has shipped its own keycloak-httpd-client-install package because initially the version shipped in Enterprise Linux 7 was too old to support ODIC. Recently it was noticed that the version in Enterprise Linux 8 contains the required features, but still contains a packaging bug. The version in Enterprise Linux 9 contains all the required features, but is older than what Foreman has shipped. Foreman 3.10 was the first release on Enterprise Linux 9 and it was marked as experimental. Because of that it’s been decided to drop it from Foreman’s Enterprise Linux 9 packaging. Users who have this package installed should downgrade it using dnf downgrade keycloak-httpd-client-install.

1.3. Deprecations

1.3.1. foreman-maintain backup snapshot

foreman-maintain backup snapshot is now deprecated and will be removed in a future release. Please use other backup types to replace your use of snapshot.

2.1. Headline Features

2.1.1. Entitlement Mode Removed in Favor of Simple Content Access

Simple Content Access (SCA) is now the only content access mode supported. When upgrading Katello, all existing organizations that use entitlement mode will migrate automatically to SCA. This change is not reversible.

Toggling SCA from the Organization Edit page, the Organization Create page, and the Organization List page is no longer available.

2.1.2. Removed System Purpose-Related Host Statuses

The following host statuses are removed:

  • Subscription Status (this column has also been removed from the All Hosts table)

  • System Purpose Status

  • SLA Status

  • Role Status

  • Usage Status

  • Addon Status

2.1.3. Debian Content Support Expanded

Import and export are now supported for repositories containing debian-type content. Additionally, the host details page will now display more details for debian packages.

2.2. Upgrade Warnings

Simple Content Access (SCA) is now the only supported content access mode. Existing organizations will be automatically migrated on Katello upgrade (see more info above). Please note that the 'Subscription - Entitlements' report template does not work with SCA organizations and will never have any rows. It will be removed in a future release or release candidate. Instead, use the 'Host - Installed Products' report. Additionally, please note that SCA-related API and Hammer endpoints and parameters have not yet been removed so you will experience errors if you try to use them. They will be removed in a future release or release candidate.

Certain host statuses have been removed (see more info above). Please note that system purpose attributes are not being removed, only system purpose-related host statuses. System purpose attributes (role, usage, release version, etc.) are still important for repository enablement and reporting to the Subscriptions service of the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console.

2.3. Deprecations

Deprecated 'Subscription - Entitlements' report template as it does not work with SCA organizations.

Deprecated certain SCA-related API and Hammer endpoints and parameters. These are likely non-functional and will be removed in the future.
